Sleep & histamine

Do you find it hard to fall asleep?

In perimenopause you are more prone to be histamine sensitive, especially if you are estrogen dominant. Histamine can keep you awake and make you feel wired and tired!

Common symptoms of histamine intolerance include:

• Irritability, depression, anxiety, brain fog, vertigo/dizziness

• Rashes, flushing, hives

• Joint pain

• Racing heart, palpitations, hypertension, arrhythmia

• Altered bowel function, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, reflux/GERD/heartburn

• Nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, difficulty breathing

• Insomnia, fatigue

• Headache, migraines

• Abnormal menstrual cycle

• Tissue swelling

Your gut helps eliminate excess histamine so make sure its healthy.

Try a low histamine diet !

Some high histamine foods include cheese, chocolate, alcohol, fermented foods, canned fish, cured meats, tomatoes, spinach and most citrus fruits.
